A Day With The Whole Funk Family!

On Saturday, Brian's family came down, to celebrate Christmas with us. They got a couple rooms in the hotel right down the street from us so it was nice and close to the beach. Kaylee was really taking everything in and watching her cousins play. We all sat on the blacony eating goodies and opening presents. Kay got some very cool things! And one of them was a really soft bear from Uncle Mark and Auntie Michelle and Kay hugged him and was giving the bear kisses, she also got a neat book from grandma Arla and grandpa Jim of Baby's First Words which she loves to sit with me now and point to all the pictures and I say what they are! We finished the evening off with pizza at Tony & Alba's. I think that place will probably talk about us for awhile! We had the kids toys in there and were playing video games and Mathew who is 5 got this sticky rat that he was throwing places to watch it stick. I have to admit I got into it too! It was a really fun day and Kaylee was fast asleep as soon as we got home!

Christmas 2008

We had a really nice Christmas, very mellow, but nice! Brian had to work so Kaylee and I spent the night at grandma and grandpa's. I have a pretty bad and painful kidney infection and needed some help with her so we got there Christmas Eve. Grandpa John and her played the whole afternoon and then all of Christmas. He even got her a bus that she can ride on and it plays music and has little plastic people that laugh when you push them. It was a huge hit with Kay and she would push the button and the music would start and her and John would dance everytime!

I was having a really hard time getting her to bed and it was 2 hours past her bedtime when finally she walked into the bedroom and wanted up on the bed with John. Within 5 minutes she was sound asleep! Thank god for Grandpa John!

She is getting so big!!!!

We decided to get out of the house today, and since it's pretty rainy, Brian and I took Kaylee to the mall. This was the first outing to a busy place since she has begun to walk. Oh my!!! She was in and out of the racks, grabbing hanger's and clothes, then she got very excited and waved and talked to people standing in line. She also would see her reflection in a mirror and stop and give herself a kiss. Pretty cute but very exhausting!

We met grandpa and bought some cookies and then when we got home we were all pretty wiped out. But it was a good full day and I am just constantly amazed at how fast she is growing up!

Lovin' My Girl

Well, Kay had another few days of high fever, and feeling real lethargic..but as you can see in the picture she is feeling much better! We both are having a pretty good time getting ready for Christmas which will be at our house. I think even got her to say "Ho-Ho-Ho', she says it after I do and when we are playing with her Santa stuffed animal.

Getting Our Tree

Yesterday, grandma picked Kaylee and I up, and we went to Felton to find Kaylee's X-mas tree! The ride was a little long and Kaylee wasn't having the best time in the bumpy jeep but once we got there....she loved it! It was a huge place with lots of trees and wild turkeys and even an old doggy. Plus, it went down a little bit of a hill so she took off running down it and was screaming and running to all the tree's. She started leaning forward and smelling them because thats what grandma and I were doing. She finally grabbed one and wasn't letting go so thats the one we cut down and brought home. She even tried to help carry it! It's the same size she is!!!

When we left we were all in need of some goodies so we stopped at a really neat organic store and bought Snappea Crisps and Chocolate Macaroons. It was a very fun outing!!

Kaylee's Appt.

We took Kaylee to her doctor appt. and they told us she is looking just perfect. She is 25 pounds 13 ounces and 31 inches long. I guess she is actually tall for her age!! But she has 2 short parent's so I'm sure that won't stay!!haha... Her ears looked great, Eilleen (her doctor) was very surprised at how well she is doing with walking and talking and how curious she is. Kaylee was running all over the room and laughing and talking.

Then we did the hard part and she got her shots. It tears me up everytime! And this morning she is running a high fever and doesn't want to walk anywhere because her legs hurt. It happens everytime! My poor girl....

Kaylee Update

Kaylee is really starting to talk now, alot of it is baby talk, but she talks our ear off. She is saying a few little words for example, she puts herself to sleep now, so I lay her in her crib and turn her music on and tell her "Goodnight, I love you" and she says back "bye"...and when she gets hurt or hits her head on the couch which she did today, I say "Bad Couch" and now she will run around the house and hit the wall or nightstand and say "bad".

Also, she will run to the kitchen and get by the fridge and cupboards and hide and when I walk in she will come running out and scream at the top of her lungs!!!Then she covers her face and laughs...When she gets really excited she clinches her fists and stiffens her arms and will scream and then covers her face very dramatically and laugh. She is quite the character already!!! She also likes to open up books and point at the words and talk like she is reading out loud like I do with her.

Well, tomorrow is her shots, luckily Brian is off so we can go together. I'll post something tomorrow evening with her weight and all that stuff. She is very solid!!! Quite the stocky one. We call her "bulldozer" now because she has no fear and puffs up her chest and will charge us when we are playing. Oh, I just love this little person! Goodnight!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a very small but wonderful holiday. As you can see, Kaylee's favorite part was the "Cool Whip"...

A Hard Day Indeed

On November 17th, John and I had to take Kaylee to get blood work done, and a lead test. I was thinking that since she was so young it would be a simple poke in her finger. But it was blood drawn from the arm. I held her on my lap in the seat and of course she immediately began to cry. John held her free arm while two nurses drew some blood. Once this was done, we went to get her some ice cream but she wasn't going for it. She ended up crying herself to sleep and I laid with her at home while she slept. I was really shaken myself. My fear of needles and of course watching my 1 year old go through this scary moment was horrible. But once she woke up, she was just fine. I still took her downtown and got her some toy cars which she loves. I was soo thankful for John. Brian felt bad that he couldn't get out of work and I just didn't want to do this alone so John brought us and as we waited he pushed Kay up and down the hallway in the wheelchair which she thought was pretty cool.

On November 20th I got a call from Kaylee's doctor and all was just perfect with her test. No Lead and nothing out of the ordinary. I'm so thankful that's over.
