A Day With The Whole Funk Family!

On Saturday, Brian's family came down, to celebrate Christmas with us. They got a couple rooms in the hotel right down the street from us so it was nice and close to the beach. Kaylee was really taking everything in and watching her cousins play. We all sat on the blacony eating goodies and opening presents. Kay got some very cool things! And one of them was a really soft bear from Uncle Mark and Auntie Michelle and Kay hugged him and was giving the bear kisses, she also got a neat book from grandma Arla and grandpa Jim of Baby's First Words which she loves to sit with me now and point to all the pictures and I say what they are! We finished the evening off with pizza at Tony & Alba's. I think that place will probably talk about us for awhile! We had the kids toys in there and were playing video games and Mathew who is 5 got this sticky rat that he was throwing places to watch it stick. I have to admit I got into it too! It was a really fun day and Kaylee was fast asleep as soon as we got home!

Christmas 2008

We had a really nice Christmas, very mellow, but nice! Brian had to work so Kaylee and I spent the night at grandma and grandpa's. I have a pretty bad and painful kidney infection and needed some help with her so we got there Christmas Eve. Grandpa John and her played the whole afternoon and then all of Christmas. He even got her a bus that she can ride on and it plays music and has little plastic people that laugh when you push them. It was a huge hit with Kay and she would push the button and the music would start and her and John would dance everytime!

I was having a really hard time getting her to bed and it was 2 hours past her bedtime when finally she walked into the bedroom and wanted up on the bed with John. Within 5 minutes she was sound asleep! Thank god for Grandpa John!

She is getting so big!!!!

We decided to get out of the house today, and since it's pretty rainy, Brian and I took Kaylee to the mall. This was the first outing to a busy place since she has begun to walk. Oh my!!! She was in and out of the racks, grabbing hanger's and clothes, then she got very excited and waved and talked to people standing in line. She also would see her reflection in a mirror and stop and give herself a kiss. Pretty cute but very exhausting!

We met grandpa and bought some cookies and then when we got home we were all pretty wiped out. But it was a good full day and I am just constantly amazed at how fast she is growing up!

Lovin' My Girl

Well, Kay had another few days of high fever, and feeling real lethargic..but as you can see in the picture she is feeling much better! We both are having a pretty good time getting ready for Christmas which will be at our house. I think even got her to say "Ho-Ho-Ho', she says it after I do and when we are playing with her Santa stuffed animal.

Getting Our Tree

Yesterday, grandma picked Kaylee and I up, and we went to Felton to find Kaylee's X-mas tree! The ride was a little long and Kaylee wasn't having the best time in the bumpy jeep but once we got there....she loved it! It was a huge place with lots of trees and wild turkeys and even an old doggy. Plus, it went down a little bit of a hill so she took off running down it and was screaming and running to all the tree's. She started leaning forward and smelling them because thats what grandma and I were doing. She finally grabbed one and wasn't letting go so thats the one we cut down and brought home. She even tried to help carry it! It's the same size she is!!!

When we left we were all in need of some goodies so we stopped at a really neat organic store and bought Snappea Crisps and Chocolate Macaroons. It was a very fun outing!!

Kaylee's Appt.

We took Kaylee to her doctor appt. and they told us she is looking just perfect. She is 25 pounds 13 ounces and 31 inches long. I guess she is actually tall for her age!! But she has 2 short parent's so I'm sure that won't stay!!haha... Her ears looked great, Eilleen (her doctor) was very surprised at how well she is doing with walking and talking and how curious she is. Kaylee was running all over the room and laughing and talking.

Then we did the hard part and she got her shots. It tears me up everytime! And this morning she is running a high fever and doesn't want to walk anywhere because her legs hurt. It happens everytime! My poor girl....

Kaylee Update

Kaylee is really starting to talk now, alot of it is baby talk, but she talks our ear off. She is saying a few little words for example, she puts herself to sleep now, so I lay her in her crib and turn her music on and tell her "Goodnight, I love you" and she says back "bye"...and when she gets hurt or hits her head on the couch which she did today, I say "Bad Couch" and now she will run around the house and hit the wall or nightstand and say "bad".

Also, she will run to the kitchen and get by the fridge and cupboards and hide and when I walk in she will come running out and scream at the top of her lungs!!!Then she covers her face and laughs...When she gets really excited she clinches her fists and stiffens her arms and will scream and then covers her face very dramatically and laugh. She is quite the character already!!! She also likes to open up books and point at the words and talk like she is reading out loud like I do with her.

Well, tomorrow is her shots, luckily Brian is off so we can go together. I'll post something tomorrow evening with her weight and all that stuff. She is very solid!!! Quite the stocky one. We call her "bulldozer" now because she has no fear and puffs up her chest and will charge us when we are playing. Oh, I just love this little person! Goodnight!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a very small but wonderful holiday. As you can see, Kaylee's favorite part was the "Cool Whip"...

A Hard Day Indeed

On November 17th, John and I had to take Kaylee to get blood work done, and a lead test. I was thinking that since she was so young it would be a simple poke in her finger. But it was blood drawn from the arm. I held her on my lap in the seat and of course she immediately began to cry. John held her free arm while two nurses drew some blood. Once this was done, we went to get her some ice cream but she wasn't going for it. She ended up crying herself to sleep and I laid with her at home while she slept. I was really shaken myself. My fear of needles and of course watching my 1 year old go through this scary moment was horrible. But once she woke up, she was just fine. I still took her downtown and got her some toy cars which she loves. I was soo thankful for John. Brian felt bad that he couldn't get out of work and I just didn't want to do this alone so John brought us and as we waited he pushed Kay up and down the hallway in the wheelchair which she thought was pretty cool.

On November 20th I got a call from Kaylee's doctor and all was just perfect with her test. No Lead and nothing out of the ordinary. I'm so thankful that's over.

This is the second video I had taken of Kaylee dancing on Halloween. This is the one where she is really dancing and clapping. Definetly one of my favorite video's!!! Also, Kaylee now says, "Hi" which she says constantly and likes to point at our pictures on the wall and say either "daddy" or "momma".

Halloween

I was bummed at first because we got our first storm the day before Halloween but we were able to get Kaylee dressed up and take her to the Wharf in between rain. She loved it!! She was excited to see all the people and I let her walk up to each store for candy. Then we got to where the stage was and they had Duran Duran playing on the stereo. Kaylee just let loose and danced and laughed. It was pretty great!! Halloween was a really fun day for all of us!

Guess Who Is 1 Today?!

Wow, I am just in such disbelief, that my daughter is a year old!? Brian, Kaylee, and I got up early because there was lots to do and Brian and I both were really teary & choked up this morning watching Kay in her p.j.'s walking around the front room waiting for breakfast. We kept saying "Our little girl is a toddler"!!

We had her party at my parent's house. Barbecued and even had a shaved ice machine which was pretty cool. It was a pretty small group of people. And 3 kids including Kay. Honestly, the adults were the ones eating the snow cones and when the pinata came out it was Brian who hit it with a broom to break it. The pinata was the kind where there are strings hanging, and each kid is suppose to grab a string and pull and it opens. I thought it was safer and that way Kaylee had a part. But her and Chucho who is almost 4 weren't quite strong enough to get it. So Brian and I grabbed brooms and hit it. It rained candy over Kay and Chucho. They thought it was pretty amazing!

Kaylee actually had no morning nap, she fell asleep just as we pulled into grandma's. She did pretty well with no nap until about 4pm. By that time the other kids had left so while Kay slept on Grandma's bed we all sat outside eating our shaved ice covered in the pure liquid colored sugar. We all chatted for quite awhile! By the time Kay got up everyone was exhausted. I have had maybe 3 hours sleep over the last 4 days. Waking up constantly because so much needed to get done I couldn't just stop and relax to sleep. So if I have made some errors on this post you know why. All in all-it was a great day. I took lots of pics so kaylee can see how loved she is All day Brian and I just kept looking at eachother and smiling. We are so blessed!!

To everyone that was able to make it today, thank you so much, it was wonderful to have you there! And if you weren't able to make it hopefully we can get together soon!!! Now.. before I fall right on my keyboard I'm off to bed! Goodnight!

(Kaylee got her own cake to eat or play with however she wanted to...She squeezed the cake between her fingers and then ate the frosting off her fingers. At this point she had becomed way too tired and rubbed her face and eyes with her messy hands!)

A Few Steps For The Camera!

I was able to capture a few steps on the camera. She was pretty ready for a nap but still did it. She really is taking off! But I think what I'm really loving the most is that she likes to hold my hand and walk along side of me. She wants to go everywhere and moves pretty quickly since she has a bit more balance with my hand. I can't explain the feeling I have holding my daughters hand and just walking together!
I also love this video because you can really see her fat little legs! She is quite the solid little girl!

A Fun Video...

I was hoping to get a video of Kaylee walking..I will have to try again tomorrow, but I thought this one was pretty funny. It really shows how playful she is and all the little noises she makes. One of her favorite new things is to shut and open doors. She thinks it's a pretty funny way of playing "Peek-a-boo".

Guess What???

September 13th~

Not only is Miss Kay 11 months old now...but today she decided that she was done with crawling!! She has been standing up by herself for the last few weeks and also has attempted a step here and there but this morning she just started walking! The first time was when she was standing at the couch and I was in the kitchen. I could tell she was ready to try and take a step and her balance was good. So I came to the doorway and said "come here"? And she let go of the couch and walked all the way to me! She didn't fall or anything. And of course I wanted scream in excitement but didn't want to break her concentration. I think she was just as proud as I was because she started smiling and clapping. And the rest of the day she walked! Pretty great! I am going to get a video of it tomorrow and post it. So check back soon!

Something I wanted to Share..

Yesterday morning, I was cleaning the kitchen, and I looked in on Kaylee who was sitting on the floor in the living room. She had her favorite pink blanket in one hand and an "Eggo" waffle in the other. And she was watching cartoons. It just really hit me at that moment how fast she has grown up! She isn't this little newborn baby anymore. I felt great joy and a little sadness at the same time. I'm so proud and amazed at this little person. I still watch her sleep and I always watch her trying to figure things out. Her favorites now are her little lego wagon that she likes dumping and walking with it. She has standing up on her own down and attempts to take steps. She has taken 3 on her own. But when she has something to hold onto she just cruises! Kaylee still loves clapping and everytime she does something she will say "Yay"! and clap. She also tries to reach up and push the buttons on the t.v. and I always say "no" so now she reaches for it and says "no" as she is doing it.

Kaylee will be 11 months old tomorrow. Next month we will be having her 1rst b-day. All I can say about that is "Wow"!

Kaylee At 10 Months Old

Kaylee has been growing up so fast!! At 10 months old she is 24 pounds!!!! She took her first step the other day but hasn't been too anxious to try it again. She did have another very high fever last friday which has me a bit concerned. We took her to the doctors and they told us that there is a virus going around. However, I am considering having some blood work done to check if she has a high level of lead. Our apartment is pretty old and our front door has alot of paint chips that fall off of it. Along with very old pipes that we use the water from for her baths. I'm hoping that I'm just a nervous first mom but I want to make sure. So I of course will keep everyone posted.

Miss Kaylee Update..

Kaylee has been very sick this last week. Brian took her to the doctor last wed. and she weighs 23 pounds and 2 ounces. But her throat is very inflamed and has been running a constant fever. They put her on antibiotics and I see improvement but unfortunately she is now very dehydrated. This morning, though, she has been drinking alot of fluids with no problem.

I began watching a baby boy who is a little over a month old. I watch him at home mon- fri. The first few days were a bit hard. Kaylee didn't understand why I was taking care of him and holding him. So we had a lot of moments of her holding onto my legs and crying while I was trying to walk with him. But now, she seems to be getting used to it, and she loves to look at him and smiles alot when he is awake and making those cute baby sounds. Of course, when she became sick I immediately was concerned for his health. Luckily, I don't have him again till monday so the antibiotics will have a good chance of really working.

I know it's still a few months ahead but I have began to plan for her 1rst b-day which is Oct. 12th. Thats pretty fun. There will be quite a few kids there. Older then Kaylee, lots of neighborhood kids, and some friends of mine have young kids, so I have been trying to plan games and fun things for them. I think it will be a great party. I just can't believe she is almost a year old. Kaylee is just starting to take some steps while holding my hands. Before she would get upset immediately and sit down but now she'll walk a bit with me. Hopefully she will be feeling better real soon. Take Care...

My mom's birthday was July 15th, so we went to Applebees and bought some fish for grandpa's pond... it was a fun day for Kaylee.

Kay's Favorite Ride!!

View this montage created at One True Media
My Montage 7/10/08

It's amazing how with all the toys and things for Kaylee to play with or play in, her favorite thing is a casserole holder!! She climbs right into it and Brian pulls and pushes it around the house. She just sits in and enjoys the ride. She is quite the girl!

Kaylee's Dreadful "Cough"

View this montage created at One True Media
My Montage 7/10/08

I like this video because you see her clap and she does her famous cough!! She does this fake cough all the time. Brian will cough and she will start. But she doesn't stop. There has been times when we are walking and she will start this and I know its just her doing it to do it and not really coughing and people will look at her and then look at me like "why aren't you checking your baby she is choking". I have to tell people that this is just something she learned and does.

9 months old

My Montage 7/10/08

Kaylee will be 9 months old on Saturday, she is getting her top 4 teeth, one has broken through and the other three are just about to. So we have had some very restless nights lately. She is starting to sleep more at night though. Only waking up at 2am and then at 4am. 4am takes some walking to get her back to sleep. And then she is up for the day at 6am. She is in absolutely everything now. And her latest words are "dada", "hi", "yay", and "kitty". She also loves to clap. Kaylee has a book about colors and smells, and each page has babies on them. If you ask her to she will point out the baby on each page. I'm trying to get a video of this but once she sees the camera she isn't interested in the book at all!

Kaylee is very fond of making tooting noises!! She likes to do this when we go for our walks and has gotten me some very dirty looks from people walking right in front of us.
